Fixworthy is built local-first on purpose. This page describes what data the app handles, why, and what stays on your device.
Summary
- No account is required to use Fixworthy or get a verdict.
- Item details you enter are stored on your device by default.
- Fixworthy does not run ads, does not use ad-tracking SDKs, and does not sell your data, ever, to anyone.
- Fixworthy has no financial stake in whether you repair, hire, replace, or live with it, so there's no incentive to profile you for that purpose either.
What Fixworthy collects
Item and decision data
When you describe an item, its type, age, symptoms, cost estimates, and the sliders you set, that information is used to compute your verdict. By default it stays on your device. It is only sent off-device in the situations described below.
AI-assisted estimates
When you don't know a number (typical repair cost, expected lifespan, resale value) or describe a problem in your own words, Fixworthy sends that text to a third-party AI provider to generate an estimate or interpretation. This request does not include your name, email, or any account identifier, it's the item description and relevant numbers only, used to return a suggested value that you can see, edit, or discard. The deterministic cost comparison itself never depends on the AI provider; only the estimate-filling and plain-English explanations do.
Account data (optional)
Saving item history across devices requires creating an account, using your email address or Sign in with Apple. In that case, Fixworthy stores the minimal account identifier and the item history you choose to save, in a backend database used only to sync your own data back to your own devices. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple can be configured to hide your real email from Fixworthy entirely.
Purchase and subscription status
If Fixworthy offers a paid tier, purchases are handled by Apple's App Store, with entitlement status (i.e., whether you have an active subscription) verified through RevenueCat and stored against your account so features unlock correctly. Fixworthy does not receive your payment card details, Apple and RevenueCat handle that.
Diagnostics
Standard crash and performance diagnostics may be collected to fix bugs. These are not linked to the content of your items or decisions.
What Fixworthy does not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no ad-tracking identifiers.
- No selling or renting your data to third parties.
- No sharing your item data with repair shops, retailers, or resale marketplaces without your explicit action (e.g. you tap a hand-off link).
Data retention and deletion
Data stored only on your device is deleted when you delete the app or the relevant item. If you've created an account, you can request deletion of your account and associated saved history at any time by emailing fixworthy.support@gmail.com.
Fixworthy keeps account and saved-history data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When the purpose for which information was collected has been fulfilled, or when you ask us to delete your account, that information is deleted or anonymized, unless we are required to keep it to meet a legal obligation.
Children's privacy
Fixworthy is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. For residents of Quebec, where the applicable threshold is 14, Fixworthy does not knowingly collect personal information from a minor under 14 without the consent of a person having parental authority.
Cross-border data transfer
Fixworthy's backend and AI processing take place on servers located in the United States. If you use Fixworthy from outside the United States, including from Canada, any data that leaves your device (as described above) is transferred to and processed in the United States, where it may be subject to United States law. By using account or AI features, you consent to this transfer.
Canadian residents (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25)
If you are in Canada, the following applies in addition to everything above. Fixworthy handles personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
- Purposes. Fixworthy collects the limited information described above only to compute your verdict, fill in and explain estimates, sync your saved history if you choose to create an account, and confirm your subscription status. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
- Consent. You control when information leaves your device. It is only sent off-device when you use the AI estimate feature, create an account, or make a purchase, and you can decline those features and still use the core decision engine.
- Access and correction. You may ask what personal information Fixworthy holds about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct it.
- Deletion and portability. You may ask us to delete your account and saved history, and to receive the data you have provided in a structured, commonly used electronic format.
- Breach notification. If a confidentiality incident creates a risk of serious harm, Fixworthy will notify affected users and the relevant authorities as required by law.
- Data location. As noted above, personal information is processed in the United States. This is disclosed so you can make an informed choice before using account or AI features.
- Automated decisions. Fixworthy's verdict is a decision-support tool based on the item details you enter, not an automated decision made about you as a person. Fixworthy does not use your personal information to make a decision about you based exclusively on automated processing.

If you are a Quebec resident and are not satisfied with how Fixworthy has handled your personal information, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'acces a l'information du Quebec (CAI).
